Both gas and electric patio heaters are highly effective. The main difference is that thegas patio heaters warm the air using convection heat, while electric patio heaters use direct radiant heat. Infrared heaters are the most energy-efficient type of patio heater - They're designed to warm objects, not air, and are ideal for draughty or exposed areas. Gas heaters work best in less exposed areas - they offer 360 degrees of heat, look great, and they're portable!
Patio heaters can be used outside all year round. But if left in an exposed area during the colder or wetter months, the finish and internal parts may become damaged. If you don't have the correct protection, we recommend disconnecting your heater from its fuel or power source and storing it in a garage or outbuilding. If you do not have the smace its best to buy a cover for your outdoor heater. This should lower the wear and tear of the weather on the material and components.
