Great quality pre owned products. I've used MPB multiple times and their product descriptions are always spot on. Fair pricing, delivery has never been an issue, neither has the customer services, when needed. A great company that takes pride is maintaining a good name.

I've been buying from MPB for a few years now - always with great service and have recently taken the plunge and started selling gear to them. The whole process was incredibly easy, with an instant, and fair quote and ditto for the collection (the YouTubers were right!)
And although I try to list my items as accurately as I can, on both occasions I have sold to them, the final quote I received after inspection was higher than the original.

I made my first purchase with MPB and was impressed. Accurate description. Fast shipping even though they took a while to process but once the item was shipped, it arrived overnight. Their shipping estimate at time of purchase was accurate and the item was well-packaged. Really good communication as well. Overall, an awesome transaction! Will purchase more from MPB.

This is the third item I’ve sold through MPB where they’ve improved on their original quote , once they’ve inspected the kit. It’s not me - another company (rhymes with tex) have twice quoted me for lenses , then come back after inspection and reduced the quote for spurious reasons.

I purchased a used nikon 18-105 lens.

I purchased a nikon 18-105 VR used lens and apart from the original box not being there it was in excellent condition and working perfectly, delivery was super fast and it was well protected during transit. I Can't fault the company 10 out of 10 from me. Thank you.

WARNING - several very bad experiences of MPB

I will never send an item to MPB for trade-in again. I
am bitterly unhappy with the sum received (my item now appears to be on their website at a 98% mark-up). I would choose to sell through a dealer such as Ffordes on a commission basis in future (Ffordes only charge 20%, and items they have sold for me have always gone quite quickly).

This is my second deeply disappointing experience when selling to MPB. The first one was utterly egregious - on that occasion, they claimed I had failed to include a battery with a Nikon dSLR I had sent in, and they removed £100 from the quote. I had included a battery, an original Nikon EN-EL4A one - it was in the camera and fully charged. They 'found' the battery the next day, only after my pursuing the matter determinedly and persistently.
Trade-in to MPB? NEVER AGAIN!

I have had very bad experiences buying from MPB, too. Such as of an Olympus EM-1 Mk2 described as like-new. It was received with a shutter-actuation count of nearly 300 000 (this count was independently verified by Park Cameras). RETURNED FOR REFUND!

Then there was the Canon dSLR MPB claimed they had dispatched that never arrived and was never traced.
LOST AND NEVER FOUND!

Then there was another Canon dSLR, described as excellent, I bought from MPB that arrived with its mirror box full of sticky gunk.
RETURNED FOR REFUND!

A Canon 45mm TS-E lens bought from MPB, described as like-new, was impossible to focus because of a defective focus-ring, a fault which should have been immediately obvious to someone checking its function.
RETURNED!

An Arca Swiss ballhead, described as good, bought from MPB was not the version described - and even then it was completely seized and unusable. RETURNED FOR REFUND!

You will see there is the frequent recurrence of deep disappointment, great inconvenience, loss of time, and unnecessary expense. Every return has to be repacked and driven to a pick-up point (or else you be trapped in your house, awaiting a courier collection), and each refund has to be waited several days for.

I have all of my aforementioned experiences of MPB verifiably documented, with relevant dates and serial numbers, should MPB need to be reminded.

MPB was honest and transparent

MPB was honest and transparent. When they realized what I sent was worth more than our original quote, they didn’t pocket that money, they told me and offered me what I deserved!

Never Again

I'm not sure what's gone wrong at MPB but after using them for many transactions over the years things have gone very much downhill. DPD failed to collect my item three times. Emails to MPB weren't answered for two days and then they were only to re-arrange a future collection date. At no point did they contact DPD and find out why the collection never happened. I also rang the local DPD depot in Belfast many times and nobody answered. After the third failed collection I bit the bullet and sent the item I was selling by Royal Mail to speed up an already slow process. Previously, MPB would refund the postage but this time I was told that this policy had changed and offered me a £10 voucher!! Being a valued customer over the past six years I replied that this wasn't good enough and the customer service representitive replied (again after two days) that a Manager would refund my postage (this time only). After the item I sent was finally inspected (seven days after it arrived at MPB) my quote was downgraded without explanation and although payment was made the same day, I'm yet to receive a refund on my postage.
MPB used to be so much better than this. I can only assume that with all their Youtube influencer advertising they've become a victim of their own success and haven't increased staffing levels to keep up with demand. This was my 23rd transaction with MPB and sadly my last. I have a local WEX which I'll now use instead.

Repeated defective products, waste of time, upcharge for replacement.

I received a defective piece of equipment 4 times in a row. I have now been without the equipment I need for several months, as they have been slow on both return and replacement shipping. After the 3rd defective instance of one lens model, I switched to another and it also arrived defective after spending quite a large sum on it.

They initially replaced them at no cost to me, but after this most recent one arrived broken(would get stuck at close focus in both af and mf), they wanted to upcharge me over $100 for the next equivalent product(I had alread paid for one rated excellent). They were only willing to give me a $25 credit towards this.

I have previously had great experiences with them, which is the only reason they get 2 stars instead of one, but I will be taking my business elsewhere as this is simply not acceptable.

by bye

It's just quicker, easier and financially better to sell gear directly than via MBP. Their service is slow and there is always an excuse to lower the initial offer for the gear sent in. The service is also totally automated with chatbots, I wasn't able to talk to real person. Never again.

Bought a lens that was close to being…

Bought a lens that was close to being spares or repairs, arrived and was too close to this title. I asked if I could return it and trade up; no problem, issue resolved with no fuss and the team was polite and cheerful all the way. Brilliant service.
