Recommended by a friend when auto focus on a lens broke after dropping it and couldn’t afford brand new one. Second hand lens came promptly, in excellent condition as advertised and they gave friend who recommended them a small bonus. Really good firm obviously interested in customers- makes a refreshing change.
I've made several sales with them at this point and every quote and price change has been fair. I've had quotes both go up and down, they always provide a clear reason for the change and I've honestly never had a reason to contest it. Will likely continue to due business with them.
I’d used MPB many times for purchases but this was my first time selling, and selling a job lot of old camera gear. The experience was seamless, from describing my gear and getting a quote, to booking a collection. It took slightly longer than they advertise to get the assessment done, but I received an email before that period was due explaining that it would be a little longer. Duly, within a few days of that, the whole lot had been assessed. One item they sent back as what I thought was an official grip was, in fact, aftermarket, which they don’t stock. Two items they actually upgraded in terms of quality, and the rest their quote held. I ended up earning slightly more than expected despite one item being returned. As ever with MPB, the return packaging was excellent and fully recyclable, and the money was in my account before the return arrived. Very, very impressed, and couldn’t be happier.

Slow processing of orders and returns
I have only made 2 purchases and it seems both transactions went smooth. The first purchase I had to return two items and the return process of getting the label and shipping was easy, however once they got my return that portion still has not been processed and it has been over 2 days. The 2nd order still hasn't shipped and a label was created 2 days ago but FedEx still doesn't have the package. I would have given 5 stars, but the processing of returns and the getting orders out is slow and could be improved on.

I’ve been wanting a macro lens
I’ve been wanting a macro lens. Usually buy my gear on eBay. The price on this lens was far better on MPB than anything else I found. Took about a week from when I purchased it until it was in my hands. It was packaged so nice and works flawlessly. I’ve already got some amazing shots with this lens. Will definitely be buying my gear here from now on.

A great lens at a great price
A great lens, just what I was looking for, honest listing, at a great price (cheaper than I could find on eBay, and with better guarantees). Will certainly be using mpb again

It couldn't be any easier...
This was the first time I've sold used photography kit, and after this experience, I wouldn't hesitate recommending selling to MPB to anyone who asks.
* Easy to request the initial quote.
* Got a quick response.
* Arranging collection of kit being sold was straight-forward.
* Despite taking slightly longer than expected to get the final quote, I was kept well informed of the delay, which was perfectly acceptable as a Public Holiday got in the way.
* After accepting the final quote, payment was received very quickly.
The most important element was getting quick answers to any questions I had, and being kept well informed in a timely manner at every step of the process.

A very disappointing experience - I don't trust them
I spent considerable time researching my purchase of an Olympus OM-D Mark 2 before the ideal model, a Mark 2, popped up on Google from MPB. Although I had sold a few items to MPB in the past, I had not purchased from them before. I paid for next day delivery and was delighted to receive the camera so quickly; it was very well packed. I should add that I particularly wanted a Mark 2 as it was the last in the series that was constructed mainly of metal, rather than plastic as in subsequent models.
I was less than delighted when I checked the condition of the camera, which was described as “Excellent” by MPB. The number of paint chips on the base and sides of the camera, as well as a copious number of scratches indicated it had been very well used. The condition would better be described as “Good”and certainly not “Excellent”. I was also suspicious of the ‘sticky plastic’ feel of the camera, which is usually indicative of heat, sunlight or excessive use. I soon realised that the model sent to me was the original older Mark 1, and not the Mark 2 that I had purchased, which would explain the feeling of excessive use.
I also recall that several items that I had sold to MPB in the past had been reduced in value “due to their condition” from ‘Excellent’ to ‘Very Good’ or from ‘Very Good’ to ‘Good’; needless to say, the movement was never upwards in my favour. I was surprised by this at the time as I look after my equipment – all are kept in cases etc, but I did not complain. It left me with the feeling that MPB must be very hot on quality control, which is a good sign if I decide to purchase from them. This was not to be the case, so I question whether MPB have two grading systems – one for purchasing camera equipment and one that is less critical when they are selling. I suspect that this is the case; they failed to answer this question raised in my email.
I telephoned MPB, who of course were closed, as it was Saturday. I managed to contact a reputable dealer, who was not closed on Saturdays, who sold me a Mark 2 in much better condition and at a similar price.
I sent two emails to MPB requesting return authorisations that were initially ignored. I then tried to contact their chat system, which was dealt with by an AI chatbot, which was useless. Eventually, I managed to chat to an equally unhelpful and over busy human, who initially ignored my request for a full refund, and instead tried to sell me the model that I had thought I had ordered at a much higher price! There were lengthy waits during our conversation, as he was clearly dealing with several others at the same time.
I insisted upon a refund, which was eventually agreed, but free collection of the camera was refused. I challenged this and the agent denied that MPB had made a listing error and that the fault was mine. As it appeared that I had merely “changed my mind” I was not eligible for free collection.
Customer service is poor. It is almost impossible to speak to anyone on the telephone (that is if you can find the correct number!) The ‘chat’ system offers inane answers to even basic questions, and when a human finally enters chat, they are so busy, which leads to very lengthy delays in even a basic conversation. One of my emails was eventually answered (I suspect by Ai), but none of the issues concerning condition of the camera were answered. I received the usual “it will not happen again” apology, but no effort was made to address the issue of refunding the postage charges that I had paid to receive the camera (£8.95), and later to return it. I have just received a request to comment on the quality of their Ai chat service – my response will not be positive!
On the plus side, the website is helpful and convincing, delivery was prompt, and the camera was very well packaged. A refund eventually made its way into my bank account although I did have to contact MPB and ask why it was taking longer than stated.
MPB still owe me £15.00 (£8.95 plus £6.05) for postage costs. The entire experience was both frustrating and annoying, so I paid for return postage myself (£6.05) in the hope and anticipation of a prompt refund at least for the camera, which arrived in my account a few days later – less postage costs. The dealings with MPB have put me off buying cameras online, and I doubt I will purchase from MPB in future. Frankly, I do not trust this company, for buying or selling, so my advice is to be very careful.

Good rates
Good rates, international payment within Europe is a bit delayed, but inland transactions are quick. Customer service is really friendly and helpful.

Purchase Experience Good, Selling Not So Much
My purchase experience has been positive so far. Selling not so much, hence only 3 stars. I was given a price quote and sent a camera in to them. They dinged the camera and claimed it was sent that way (it wasn't, I have photos) and offered me less $ for it. I declined the offer. When they sent it back it was minus the batteries. They claimed that they don't accept 3rd party batteries if not listed (there was no place to do so) - ok fine, but don't just keep them - send them back. Their customer service on this issue was incredibly frustrating. They basically stole my batteries. I would never sell any gear to them.

Not very helpful when they make a mistake
This was my 3rd time shopping with them. Previous purchases seemed ok.
This time they make a mistake and sent the wrong gear. Their process is to treat that like regular refund without even trying to make any arrangements to help the customer they let down and not waste more of their time (besides advising me to use the item they sent by mistake before I return it, unhelpful for obvious reasons). It's also hard to trust a company that claims to do throughout checks on gear but doesn't read the model number that is visibly marked on the kit. Since I was ordering a more expensive model but recieved one of lower value, I can only hope it wasn't intentional.

I've purchased and sold equipment with…
I've purchased and sold equipment with MPB. The process is always quick and accurate. Customer service is very responsive and helpful. As they write on their site, each item is photographed and you get what you select. I've been very satisfied with all of my transactions and have recommended them to friends.

Quick, clear, and fair
Instructions were clear, prices were fair (and better than a few others I checked) and process was straightforward. MPB actually upgraded one piece of equipment I sent in and sent me more money than estimated. Just a little more, but it's better than less! Shipping was easy and free, assessment and payment was quick. Really could not have been better.
